Kinesiology means "the study of movement.” It’s a broad term encompassing various disciplines such as human physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy.
The focus of Kinesiology is balancing the body as a whole, which includes emotions, nutrition, structure, and energy. The nervous system is the main communication vehicle in this process. It consists of a complex network of neurons that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body during muscle testing. The information gathered can help identify what the body needs in order to heal itself.
The body is designed to heal itself. When it's unable to do that, we often assume there is a blockage somewhere. The body is smart and always strives for balance and healing. For example, if you sprain your ankle, you may limp as you continue trying to get around. This is not ideal, but it works temporarily for you. Your body is compensating and often it takes its toll on other parts of your body.
Unfortunately, compensations use lots of energy drawn from the body's reserves to heal. If a compensation goes on long enough, the body begins to accept it as the status quo, and it becomes more difficult to identify and heal. As time goes on, the compensations stack up. Often, we’re not even aware of this until we finally start experiencing symptoms.
Many nervous system diseases can affect muscle strength. Kinesiology is based on an energy model of health (not a medical one). There is little evidence of the underlying philosophy and claims of benefit.
Who Needs A Balance?
Everybody needs a balance now and then. All people experience varying levels of physical and emotional stress in their lives. The body has many layers, similar to an onion. I frequently use this analogy. I often tell clients to book a balancing session when they feel ready to “peel back a few more layers.”
What To Expect After A Balance
Being energetically out of balance can feel tiring, dull, irritating, depressing, overwhelming, and cause poor posture along with other physical manifestations. After a balance, people often report feeling more energetic, hopeful, motivated, grounded, pain-free, peaceful, and with improved posture and flexibility and mental clarity.
More than ever, we need to help ourselves and others cope with the current climate of daily stress. If you are a human being living on this earth, chances are good that you’d benefit from receiving a Kinesiology balancing session
